Hotel Adriatic
Rovinj

Gallery hotel in the port of Old Town
Hotel Adriatic is a boutique hotel located in a corner of the old port of Rovinj, Croatia. Rovinj is a small port town on the Croatian peninsula of Istria, facing Venice, Italy across the Adriatic Sea.
As cars cannot be parked in the Old Town, you must leave your car in the public car park at the entrance to the town and load your luggage onto the electric cart provided by the hotel. The old town of Rovinj is surrounded by a small harbour where yachts and fishing boats are moored side by side. The winding streets paved with polished white limestone lead up the hill. The view of the colourful pastel buildings reflected in the Adriatic Sea is famous. The glow of the evening sun seen from the hill above the harbour is also an unforgettable scene.
Built 100 years ago in 1913 in a corner of the harbour, the hotel still retains its elegant exterior, but the moment you step inside it's a different world. The slightly dim interior has a modern feel with grey walls, black steel and white tiles, and there is a curtain in a unique shade of blue, symbolic of the blue of the Adriatic. Modern paintings and works of art (not fake, but real!) are displayed here and there. ), making the hotel itself look like a gallery. It's not just the stylish decor on the outside that's been taken care of, but also the smallest details. These include the welcome letter and snacks written by the owner, the witty 'Do Not Disturb' sign and the cute bicycles that can be hired to explore the village.
In my travels I have stayed in many places that have been converted from old buildings, but I think it is rare to find a place that combines the rustic and old-fashioned atmosphere of the village with modern technology and stylish design as well as this place does.

Breakfast
at the Hotel Adriatic
Breakfast in the stylish Brasserie Restaurant on the first floor is not a buffet like in other hotels, but a set menu where you can choose the items you want. An omelette with sausage, bacon, Istrian asparagus, sun-dried tomatoes, freshly baked baguette and coffee is served on a large tray.
FYI, you can also choose a glass of champagne in the morning.
The town has a small and simple atmosphere, but hidden among the winding alleys are restaurants that skilfully prepare seafood from the Adriatic Sea and delicacies from the Istrian peninsula, such as truffles. In Rovinj, it seems that no matter where you go, you will not be disappointed.
For a quick bite, we recommend "the Rio snack bar"! The restaurant with a unique atmosphere on the first floor of the Adriatic Hotel is well known here, too, and at night you can enjoy a glass of local Istrian wine in a stylish bar.
Although it is a small fishing village, it is a famous resort, so prices are extremely high during the summer holiday season. However, in the low season the prices seem to drop to about a third of the summer season prices. The quiet time I had at the Hotel Adriatic, a quiet village where there are few tourists, will be in my memory for a long time.
