Jagerhäus Agriturismo
Cortina d'Ampezzo

Agriturismo on an organic farm
Jagerhäus is an agriturismo situated on a green hill just outside Cortina d'Ampezzo.
Outside the window is a ranch where you can see cows and horses grazing peacefully in the pasture, even though we are less than five minutes from the centre of Cortina d'Ampezzo, a rather large town in the Dolomites.
The agriturismo is a chalet-style building with white stone walls and wood, built on a sloping hill, just like the buildings in the area. The interior, like most of the buildings in the Dolomites, including those in Cortina d'Ampezzo, is furnished with wooden furniture and carvings. In front of the building there is a large wooden terrace where you can sit and watch the sun go down over the peaks of the Dolomites, surrounded by the red glow of the sky.
The agriturismo is located next to the organic farm where host, Angelo, keeps free-range cattle, so you can enjoy fresh milk and cheese for breakfast every morning. It's truly farm-to-table. You can also have lunch or dinner at the agriturismo's restaurant. Here you can taste the traditional cuisine of Cortina d'Ampezzo, based on the specialities of the farm and the region.
The homemade tagliatelle with venison and the tender gnocchi with duck and cheese are also excellent, but the steaks and beef dishes from the farm seem to be the most popular.
Even if you're not dining in, you can enjoy a glass of Friulian Dolomite wine on the outdoor terrace while nibbling on a cheese plate and local prosciutto.

Strudel
This is a dessert commonly eaten in the Dolomites. It is an apple pie. It was originally a dessert from the Austrian region, but the Dolomites are geographically and culturally similar to the Austrian Tyrol, and apples are a particularity of that region, so it's a dessert that fits in well.
It is also served with ice cream at the Jagerhaus.
