La Locanda di San Francesco
Montepulciano

The best view in Montepulciano
La Locanda di San Francesco is not an agriturismo, but rather a building that was built in the 14th century in the village within the walls of Montepulciano and has been converted into a cozy hotel.
When you arrive at the Locanda, which is located at the end of the alleys of Montepulciano and at the end of Piazza San Francesco, you check in in the wine bar on the first floor, where wine lines the walls. Instead of the routine check-in, where you hastily open your suitcase, hand over your passport and receive your keys, your stay begins with the thoughtful consideration of the hostess, who offers a glass of wine as a welcome drink and asks how the journey has been so far.
The antique furniture and decorations have been carefully added to the original appearance of the building. This includes the arched walls and gables, and the spiral steel staircase leading to the attic. The bathroom is as spacious. Although you probably won't be reading anything here, there is a small library.
Having rested, open the wooden-framed brass latch and stand by the window. You will have the best view of Montepulciano. The Val d'Orcia and Val di Chiana valleys lie beyond the faded terracotta roofs. Especially at sunset, people gather in front of the Locanda to watch the sunset in Piazza San Francesco.
While you are in Montepulciano, it is a good idea to take a leisurely stroll through the narrow streets of the town without being pressed for time. You can explore the wine shops, grocery stores and small shops that seem to have been there forever, and then sit down at a table in front of the Piazza Grande and enjoy a leisurely dinner while watching the people go about their business.
After strolling around the town, you can stop at the Wine Bar on the first floor of the Locanda to enjoy a glass of Montepulciano wine. It is also a good idea to take a stroll around the town and have a glass of Montepulciano wine at the wine bar on the first floor of the Locanda. In the wine bar, with a wall full of wine, the owner will tell you all about Montepulciano wine. It is also the place where live jazz concerts are held on summer evenings, which have become quite famous.

A copper smithy and kitchenware shop I found while walking through the alleys of Montepulciano.
The grandfather of the owner started selling copper pots at the end of the 19th century and the shop has been run by three generations of the family ever since.
The forge, which was built in 1845, is still in use today.
A magical forge where you can admire pots, pans and other shiny copperware and buy something before you know it!
